What is the ultimate Purpose of your business?

As I complete my major re-brand, I’m reminded regularly about Purpose.

As the owner of your own business,
You’re in a unique position to serve a deeper purpose
Every single day.

It doesn’t have to be grand either.
It is deeply noble to support your family or children,
Best you can.

Yet sometimes, you probably know your service or products
Serve a far deeper Purpose.
You get to define that.
You get to grow and bolster that.
You get to stay motivated, inspired and moved by that.

When Purpose is clear, everything gets clearer.
Certainly, marketing and advertising become much easier

When guided by Purpose!

Most people don’t know that one of my very first marketing jobs
Was clearing landmines through the
United Nations Association of the USA.

Heck, I even got to work with Heather Mills and Sir Paul McCartney!
Btw, he’s a great guy in every way. Class act.

As a faithful and loyal humanist,
I have a deep appreciation and love of humanitarian support.

Because it does take a village,
Because no person is an island,
Because life can change course on a dime,

(As my recent car accident reminded me too starkly!)
Because everyone needs some help once in a while,
And many people need help that can never be quite enough.

But it’s something.
And sometimes, “just something” means a world of good,
And makes a world of difference.

World Humanitarian Day is organized by OCHA,
A UN agency that coordinates global emergency response to
Save lives and protect people in humanitarian crises.

In the US and developed world, we take most of this for granted.
Though sometimes, we’re reminded that everyone needs help:
Think Australia’s fires in early 2020,
Or Hurricane Katrina for our own New Orleans family members.

This year’s World Humanitarian Day message is
#ItTakesAVillage
How true that is.

In business, it can feel like a very large village some times!
But no one truly goes it alone,
Or ever needs to either.

At the end of the day though, there is always a Purpose.
And one of mine is and always will be to allow my own business
To serve a Greater Good.

In that early landmine clearing marketing job,
I was blown away that I could be some teeny tiny part
Of children, animals or someone’s loved ones
Not getting maimed or killed by some unexploded ordinance
From an earlier conflict or war.

In fact, it was while at that job that 9/11 happened,
When my own purpose shifted and I then decided that

“Life is Too Short!”…
So I went to live my own dreams

And went to drama school.
How young I was, and how long ago that feels.

But a Purpose always endures.

50 Weeks Of Giving!

We’re shifting gears a little bit with a Membership option for United National Association of the USA.

I still love the UNA and it’s mission grounded in a belief that
“Our interests and values can best be advanced by standing
With the planet’s only truly universal institution: The United Nations”
