Celebrating the benefits of boredom to your business

July is Anti-Boredom month – the very best month to be bored!

In the American school system,
July is that beautiful sandwich month of pure childhood freedom,

After school ends in June,
And before it gears back up in August,
In other words, the ideal time to be fully care free.

And without cares, inevitably comes boredom.
Sometimes, for some.

Often, for others!

Even for those like me, who can easily fill time,
Alone or with others,
Boredom comes now and then.

And that’s where the value ultimately lies!
Boredom is your best friend.

When it happens, there is a reason.

There’s a reason when you can’t concentrate.
There’s a reason when you don’t want to continue with your current task.
There’s a reason you just need time to process.

Don’t you ever find yourself staring blankly in the middle of a day?
It’s your spirit, brain or processing system asking for a reboot.

I find it far easier to make big decisions after periods of boredom.
And in business, the most challenging thing required,
Is making lots and lots of important decisions.

Boredom takes the edge and pressure off –
As long as you give it space to breathe!

Engagement is one of the hardest things I see clients struggle with.
How to spend time on the powerful engagements,
And not get bogged down in empty exchanges…
Or even create the engagement in the first place!

Giving yourself some space,
Ask yourself stronger questions,
Then tune back in, and focus solely on connecting with your audience.

You know, here’s one insane thing I’ve discovered:
Very few people actually know their audience at all.
Very few know their buyers – at all!
Very few have any engagement that gives people a journey.

Perhaps a little boredom will give you the space
To just focus on them,
And what you want to give them with your product or service.

That stranger to your audience,
That doesn’t need to be you.

Sure you can push, push,
And insist, and insist.
But that stops being satisfying after a while.

There’s always something you can be doing to grow your business….
But just a touch of boredom can connect you

To something deeper,
That lets you cut to the chase.
Give yourself some space for that Magic.

50 Weeks Of Giving!

As this week includes the Day of Friendship, I’d like to honor the work of Friends American Friends Service Committee.

While not a Quaker myself, I’ve happened to do much
Deeply satisfying work with them over the years, these
Friends, as they call themselves.
It also happens that the Friends have a

A mission to serve all those with a “divine light within”.

See if their mission aligns with yours here.
